Estonia VAT & duty cut on fuel as inflation soars

12.4% inflation prompts cut in fuel VAT rates 30 April 2022

Estonia is the latest country to turn to a temporary Value Added Tax rate cut to help combat spiking prices on the global energy markets. VAT on petrol, diesel, heating oil and gas will be cut from 30 April 2022. The rate on such supplies will drop from 9% to 5%.  At the same time, duties on effected fuels will be dropped.

A number of EU countries are cutting fuel and basics VAT to help households deal with record inflation rates this winter.

Last year, the EU Finance Ministers agreed to allow more freedoms on reduced VAT rate setting which will come into effect from 2025. Sign-up for our free VAT & GST news updates.
