Polish roles over food VAT cut; ends fuel VAT cuts following EC ruling

Poland has roll-over again it’s zeroing of VAT on basic foodstuffs. This forth extension will last into 2023. This covers: fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and grain products. It was scheduled to expire on 31 December 2022.

However, cuts to energy, heat and gas VAT at 0% will be allowed to lapse following an intervention by the European Commission. It warned Poland that under the EU VAT Directive rules, energy must be levied with at least 5%.

European inflation VAT cuts have become popular across the region as inflation hits forty-year highs.
