Romania cuts VAT to 19% January 2017

Romania reverse crisis VAT cuts

Romania completes the roll back of the crisis VAT rate cuts. Its standard VAT rate will drop from 20% to 19% on 1 January 2017. This follows the cut from 24% to 20% on 1 January 2015.

During the height of the financial crisis, VAT in Romania was raised from 19% to 24% on 1 July 2010.

The reduced VAT rates or 5% and 9% are unchanged.
