The Belarussian President has reversed on 1 August 2021 a rise in the VAT rate on certain foodstuffs from 10% to the standard VAT rate. The current VAT rate in Belarus is 20%.
The goods affected include vegetables, nuts, children’s beverages. They had been shifted form the reduced 10% rate to the standard rate on 1 January 2021. However, this caused major price rises which the government is now seeking to reverse.
